Update Rudler, PSC Policies 2021 Tax Filing Season Extension April 15th Deadline
To our Clients and Friends:
In a news release, the IRS and Treasury Department announced an extension of the April 15th deadline to May 17th for the filing of 2020 individual income tax returns and the associated tax payments assisting taxpayers in coping with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and accommodating tax changes made by the American Rescue Plan Act enacted March 11th.
Some important takeaways:
- The IRS specifically stated that this does not extend first quarter estimated payments which will continue to be due April 15th.
- No mention was made regarding other types of filings that are due April 15th such as most trusts, gift tax returns or C Corporation returns.
It is anticipated the States of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana will also extend their due dates to May 17th, as well as many local governments. The IRS noted that they will be issuing further guidance shortly, we will update you as that information becomes available.
While the filing deadline has been extended to May 17th, we respectfully ask that you continue to provide us your tax return information as early as possible to the extent all information is available to do so.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
Alex Weidner, CPA, CFE
