Even when she was just a student being honored as the Accounting Student of the Year, Gretchen Russell – who likes to shop for great bargains away from the office – knew a great value when she found one.
Now, as a manager for Rudler, PSC, she enjoys providing her clients’ great service that shows the value of having a professional work on their behalf.
Gretchen’s career would actually begin during her time at Northern Kentucky University where she would graduate summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Landing a co-op opportunity at Scott E. Grosser, PSC CPAs following a professor’s recommendation in 1998, she would be hired full-time by the firm upon her graduation the following year. She would spend the next two decades preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements using QuickBooks and Sage (Peachtree) as well as working on tax returns – services she continues to provide after the firm’s merger with Rudler, PSC in Nov. 2019. While she remains a big fan of numbers, she cites the kudos she receives from clients as her biggest source of motivation. “I appreciate when they do take our advice and it works for them,” she says.
A native of Edgewood, the married mother of one daughter and one dog (Zoey) lives in Independence. Travel – visiting Gatlinburg in particular – remains one of her favorite activities away from the office, as does serving on the First Impressions welcoming committee at her church, 7 Hills, in Florence.
