Alexander D. Weidner, CPA, CFE

Alex Weidner learned a lot from his big family.

The middle child of five, Alex was always engaged in some competitive game with his siblings, and it taught him how to think quickly and get along with different personalities. He learned how to be a good team member from playing soccer for more than 20 years. In fact, he met his wife, Krystol, while they both played soccer in college. Now surrounded by parents and siblings within 25 minutes of each other, Alex and his young family represent a new generation of leaders at Rudler, PSC.

Alex started his career as an intern at Rudler in 2007, and he took the initiative to move the firm toward a paperless office with improvements in software. It earned him a full-time spot after graduation in 2010. He primarily serves clients in not-for-profits and closely held businesses. He also assists high net worth individuals with tax and accounting consulting and provides support for employee benefit plan audits. After achieving his Certified Fraud Examiner designation, Alex has applied his technology skills toward litigation support as well as industry standards to help people protect their personal identities and reduce the risk of fraud in business.

Internally, Alex is involved in attracting and retaining talent through the firm’s co-op program, citing an 80 percent success rate in retaining select interns as employees after each tax season. He has also continued to advise on technology upgrades and best practices to make the firm efficient and competitive for the future. In the community, he participates in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), designed for low-income taxpayers — an organization he has supported since college.

Keeping a positive attitude at work and home has served Alex well, and he emphasizes a core value of respect for his family and colleagues that translates to client relationships. In his free time, he enjoys being with his wife and daughter, golfing, and restoring a ’79 Pontiac Trans Am.
