John Wood, CPA
John Wood starts everyday at zero.
It doesn’t matter what he did yesterday or last week. An internal fire of achievement drives him. That, and his love of coffee, gives him the jolt to get started on new tasks and challenges every single day.
As he focuses on the task at hand, he envisions what could be, what is the client doing or not doing, how can their situation be improved, what opportunities are there to be better? This energizes him. With a near obsession for anything number related, he follows the task through completion, and by the end of the day something more has been achieved. He has helped the client; the client is impressed and looks to him for even more. John is satisfied and starts thinking about what tomorrow will bring.
With this initiative, commitment and drive, John has excelled from the very start. He graduated summa cum laude from Thomas More College at the age of 19, obtained the Certified Public Accountant designation at age 20, and most recently purchased his first home at age 22. As such, he has become the firm’s key mentor to new interns, a status typically achieved by professionals much further along in their careers.
He may seem like all work and no play, but for John they go hand in hand. He has a passion for Cincinnati’s sports teams, from his wide collection of Reds Bobbleheads proudly displayed in his office to often being heard asking fellow co-workers, “are you going to the FCC game?” He is also the commissioner for Rudler’s fantasy football league. On Sundays during tax season, he participates in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), working in conjunction with Thomas More College accounting students, to provide tax preparation assistance to low income and elderly individuals.
